Terry Whipple is a luthier based in southwestern Illinois in the Shawnee Hills. Terry first came into prominence with his guitars being used by Robert Bowlin. Terry says he always had his hands on wood since he was a kid. Like most everyone else, when Terry started playing guitar, he began to attempt instrument setups and repairs on his as well as other adventurous friends’ instruments. This was about 30 years ago.

About 15 years ago Terry lost fingertips on two fingers of his left hand. It took him a while to find a guitar that was actually made left handed. When he did, he wasn’t happy with it and thought, he can do better than that. Terry met Chris Rothrock (also a luthier) who was very generous with his time and knowledge in guitar making. After meeting Robert Bowlin, Terry came to discover his gifted talents as a woodworker, subsequently, his luthier career and skills took off, bringing him where he is today.
