Paul has been passionate about guitars his entire life. Since childhood, he remembers wondering how guitars worked and were built. He began making guitars professionally in 2001, after working for seven years in the corporate world as a graphic designer.

He came to realize that his interests in woodworking – at the time, boat making – and his love of guitars – intersected into his true passion: lutherie. He completed his training at the American School of Lutherie and worked for a period of time with legendary luthier Charles Fox, who eventually praised his work later. Recently, he moved operations from Phoenix, Arizona, to Madison, Wisconsin.

Paul now owns a small studio where he works independently creating quality hand-crafted guitars. He works alone so that he may personally attend to every detail of the guitars he create. He is most concerned about quality and wants to ensure that every instrument that bears his name is worthy of being called a Woolson Soundcraft guitar.

His guitars have many features different from other instruments, which according to Paul, give his guitars their distinctive sound and personality. Paul prefers clean, elegant and understated aesthetic appointments on his guitars. Paul has built instruments for musicians with a variety of different musical styles and he enjoys working with them.
