Alan Dunwell is a Colorado based luthier who has been making instruments for over twenty years and professionally since 1994.

Alan runs his one man shop out of his home near Nederland, Colorado making instruments one at a time. Each instrument is hand built by Alan personally. Alan is a member of the Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) and The Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans (ASIA). He created and was the head of the Colorado Luthiers organization until he stepped down in 2007. Over time Alan has created two personal designs, Serenade & Minstrel, that he feels work well in developing the sound, resonance, and tone that he is seeking.

While traditional body styles can always be created and certainly provide wonderful instruments, currently he emphasizes his two personal designs.
